Catalog description
This course examines the legal and regulatory structures supporting the financial system in the US. This course introduces and analyzes the institutional structure of US financial markets and the way that international, federal and state-level regulation shape the industry. The course covers the laws and rules promulgated to account for potential market failure; the process by which goals become legislation, legislation begets rules; and the way rules protect market participants and enforce behavioral change. This course emphasizes case analysis, development of critical thinking skills, and oral and written communication.
