An exploration of the popular literature that developed in England between 1660 and 1775; topics, which may vary from semester to semester, include Restoration comedy, Augustan satire, and the emergence of new prose forms - journalism, biography, history, and the novel. This course may serve as the capstone for the liberal arts English minor.
