Catalog description

Through the study of various literary genres and critical methods, students will learn to identify the defining characteristics of literary genres, develop a working vocabulary of literary terms, practice close reading and other modes of reading and writing appropriate to the English major, conduct and apply research using secondary sources, and write analytical essays about literary texts.
