Catalog description
This course provides an overview of quantitative and qualitative research methods commonly used in communication studies. Students will learn the foundational steps of academic social scientific research, including grounding studies in relevant theories, developing research questions and hypotheses, and selecting appropriate methodologies. The course emphasizes data collection and analysis techniques that support strong scientific inferences. Additionally, students will explore the fundamentals of report writing, preparing them to conduct and present rigorous research in academic and professional settings. This course is not open to students with credit for COM 9635 or COM 9640
