Catalog description

Social technologies have recently emerged as a particularly innovative areawithin the larger information technology (IT) field. Social technology platformsare designed to connect businesses with users in new ways that enablebusinesses to develop interactive relationships with them. Why do so manypeople find social platforms so appealing? Why have some social platformssucceeded, while most others have failed? And why do we observe such greatvariance in how successful, established firms fare when they attempt toleverage social technology platforms? This course develops an integratedframework to help students answer these three key questions in a technicallyand managerially useful way.
