The Sixties in America

The course explores the major cultural, social, and political developments of the 1960s and their significance for American history and life. Topics may include: Civil Rights, JFK, the New Left, Vietnam, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Second Wave Feminism, Black Power, the urban rebellions, Gay Liberation, movements led by Chicanos and Puerto Ricans, resistance movements abroad, and the rise ofthe New Right. (Students will receive credit for only one of the following courses: BLS, HIS, or LTS 3055. These courses may substitute for each other in the F-replacement policy.)
