Border Ethics: Migration, Ecology, and Markets

This course examines major ethical questions related to the human, ecological, and economic dimensions of migration and border crossings. Students will engage these topics through the lens of Christian ethics and consider the strengths and weaknesses of common ethical frameworks like communitarianism, cosmopolitanism, and responsibility ethics. Through an examination of history, modern cases studies, and pressing questions we face about our future, students will consider questions of membership, identity, narrative, responsibility, security, globalization, international law, and human rights.
