Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to expand and extend impactful study abroad experiences in the Caribbean to students enrolled in the Encuentro Dominicano program. This course explores history, literature, and politics in Colombia, with a focus on the Caribbean region. This effort would expand student understanding of commonalities across the Caribbean, including colonial past and cultural practices, while expanding their understanding of the ways in which identity and resistance have unfolded in each country. An eight week online course is supplemented by a five day immersion to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
