Philosophical Ethics: Energy and Environment

Catalog description

A critical study of fundamental philosophical theories, including a utilitarian theory, a deontological theory, and a virtue ethics theory, about the nature and sources of moral obligation, moral virtue, justice, wisdom, and a good human life. Students will use these theories to evaluate critically their own ethical presuppositions and to form well-reasoned judgments about how to act in complex practical situations, including the practical situation associated with different types of energy technologies and their impacts on the environment.
