American Classical Music

Catalog description

The course investigates Western art music from the American perspective - everything from the music of indigenous people, to the New World classical music, to the birth of jazz, film, and Broadway, and the 20th century American avant garde. Students will also develop listening skills for the aural analysis of such music. CR: Membership in the Honors Program.
