This course examines the closely intertwined histories of eugenics and medical genetics. From a progressive vision with elite scientific backing, to a horrific social program, conceptions of eugenics have changed significantly over the past century. Students will examine the extent of which genetic medicine reflects a continuation of eugenic expectations.
