Bunrachtna hÉireann, the Constitution of the Republic of lreland, declares that, "by her life within the home, woman gives to the State a support without which the common good cannot be achieved" (42.t.L'). This course explores the history of women writers on the island of Ireland and the ways that they have written against the dominant narrative that has consigned them to the home.
