Catalog description

This course provides students with an understanding of the social practices and private and and public policies related to food production, distribution, and consumption and their local, national, and global interconnections. By using the tools of holistic and comparative analysis, this course helps students to understand, from an anthropological perspective, the interconnectedness of issues such as food overproduction and scarcity, overnutrition and hunger, development, food security, sustainability, and food and environmental justice.
