Catalog description

This course is comprised of laboratories conducted over a 5 day period that provide instruction and practice of surgical and anesthetic procedures relevant to equine and livestock species. Surgery will be performed using models, explanted tissues, and cadaver specimens, with minimal live animal experience. The intent of this course is not to make the students proficient in procedures but to familiarize them with specialized surgical and anesthetic techniques conducted in referral practice. The course, therefore, is intended for students anticipating large animal practice after graduation.
