Digital Mental Health Interventions

Digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) are rapidly becoming an important part of the mental healthcare landscape. Their growth represents a unique opportunity to provide scalable evidence-based care and address inequities in access to high-quality mental healthcare. This seminar will survey the current DMHI landscape (including use of AI, VR, online programs, smartphone apps, telehealth, and hybrid-DMHI models) with a particular focus on the current strengths and limitations of DMHIs and how they might best be utilized in the future. Students will harness knowledge gained during the course to propose their own novel DMHI as part of a semester-long project. This course is designed to be highly interactive. Students will engage in discussions and oral presentations as well as providing constructive feedback to help classmates improve their proposed programs.
