STEAM, Outreach and Community Engagement

Catalog description

This course presents and provides space to practice a trans-disciplinary approach to developing and implementing STEM outreach materials and working with community partners. This course is associated with a community engaged program, meaning the efforts will be applied. Students will be exposed to participatory design research and will keep reflective journals to support their own critical reflection on how to create inclusive and accessible outreach experiences. The applied part of this course will take place through A Birdsong Program – an established community partnership between the Lab of Ornithology, BOCES and the instructor.
