Catalog description

This course teaches the basic skills necessary to sail 2-person dinghies. Skills learned include: sailing terminology, knots, safety and etiquette, boat handling, sail trimming, capsize recovery and heavy wind considerations. There are a total of eighteen hours of instruction on shore or Cayuga Lake depending on weather. Course fee includes all equipment. Come dressed for the weather, as you will get wet. Open to sailors of all skill levels. Students must pass the University Swim Requirement prior to the first day of class.
