Catalog description

A study of arranging, composition, and orchestration technique by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Horace Silver, and various members of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Work consists of three substantial arrangements for small, medium, and large ensemble with bi-weekly assignments. Arrangements are recorded by members of the jazz ensemble and submitted as a portfolio at the end of the semester. (MUSIC-MT)
