Materials Design: Ideation

Catalog description

This course emphasizes the ideation stage of early-stage product development. Formed into small teams, students collaboratively ideate multiple innovative products. After the consideration of realistic design constraints, each team chooses one of the products they have ideated to advance towards feasibility. The team iterates the design of this product with particular attention to the suitability for prototyping and the potential market for the product. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for searching intellectual property and analyzing markets are applied; the effectiveness and reliability of these AI tools are also considered.
