A continuation of KOREA 3301 . This course offers a rigorous space to explore multifaceted societal issues, ranging from modern housing and community culture to historical perspectives, including the Japanese colonial period and North-South relations. A hallmark of this course is the self-directed research project: students investigate a specific aspect of Korean culture, history, or society—such as folk tales, proverbs, or contemporary social phenomena—that resonates with their academic interests. Guided by the instructor’s mentorship and structured inquiry, students conduct independent research using authentic sources and deliver formal academic presentations, ensuring they gain the critical thinking skills necessary for advanced academic success.
