ILROB 2551
Exercising Your Influence at Cornell and Beyond
Cornell University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In this course, you will put research on social influence into practice in your daily life. To do so, you will step outside the classroom, and in some cases, outside your comfort zone. You will talk to people you might not otherwise approach, say things you might not typically say, and try things you might not ordinarily do. As a class, we will adapt research studies into personal experiments that will help you to learn more about yourself and the influence you have. At the end of the course, the goal is for you to have developed a muscle for using your influence—in contexts such as networking, help-seeking, mentoring, and close relationships—and using it responsibly.
