HADM 6071
Automation, AI and Machine Learning in Hospitality
Cornell University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The business of hospitality is becoming increasingly data rich, but at the same time this data comes from a variety of sources which need to be updated and cleaned on a regular (often daily) basis prior to analysis and model building. In addition, archival data exists on 3rd party platforms and transactional systems often behind user logins. This course focusses on automating data-driven decision making as it provides an overview of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and automation – through this overview key differences are highlighted with a focus of use cases. The course uses a series of established Microsoft tools (e.g. PowerBI, Power Automate and AI Builder) to provide a hands-on overview of how to automate the ingestion, cleaning and presentation of data for hospitality decision making and reporting. The course culminates with students building their own chat-bot based on the automated extraction of customer level information and feedback.
