Applications of Behavioral Economics

Catalog description

Behavioral economics starts by developing models of decision making and investigating the implications of those models for individuals and household outcomes (which is the focus of ECON 4660 ). This course will focus on the next step: What are the implications of those models for market outcomes and for the role of government interventions to improve market outcomes? We will study applications from industrial organization and health economics, and applications from the new subfield of behavioral public economics that studies how to think about government policy when individuals and households may not be behaving as economists typically assume.
