Catalog description

This course prepares undergraduate Course Assistants (CAs) to provide effective academic support for students enrolled in a variety of Chemistry courses. Chemistry Course Assistants (CAs) facilitate review sessions, host drop-in office hours, and support problem-solving sessions and discussion components. Through guided practice, reflection, and discussion of effective teaching strategies, CAs will develop the skills necessary to facilitate student learning, communicate effectively, and help reduce barriers to academic success in these environments. Students will combine practical experience in their assigned chemistry courses with weekly learning opportunities that will touch on learning theory, instructional strategies, communication skills, and personal reflection.
