Catalog description

The transport of energy, mass, and momentum is essential to the function of living systems. Changes in these processes often underlie pathological conditions. This undergraduate level course covers the understanding and analysis of micro-macroscopic fluid flow phenomena within the human body and the relation between fluid flow and physiological processes. The topics covered in this course span cellular level to organs under healthy and diseased conditions. Instruction will include a combination lecture, discussion, practical homework, and projects. The goals of the course are to build conceptual understanding and analytical skills. Students are encouraged to engage with material independently and come to class ready to participate actively.
