Catalog description
This course introduces omics approaches, which profile genome-wide molecular information across multiple biological layers, including the genome, transcriptome (gene expression), epigenome (e.g., chromatin accessibility and transcription factor binding), and proteome. Students will learn about major omics technologies such as DNA-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell omics, spatial transcriptomics, and proteomics, and their applications in areas including genomic medicine, biotechnology, and agriculture. The course also introduces foundational computational tools used in genomic data analysis. Students will develop core skills in accessing genomic datasets, visualizing genome-wide information, and performing basic data manipulation and analysis, while learning how biological information is encoded, regulated, and interpreted across genome-wide molecular layers.
