Catalog description

This course supports students in designing, carrying out, and communicating an independent research project using appropriate scientific methods and professional communication practices. To enroll, students must have completed at least one semester of research in a faculty advisor’s laboratory and must have submitted a research proposal during the previous spring semester that outlines the project’s objectives, background and significance, proposed or current methods, and anticipated timeline. The course provides structured support for refining research proposals in collaboration with both the Honors instructor and the student’s research advisor. Students will develop competencies in organizing data, selecting and applying appropriate analytical tools, interpreting results, and using data visualization techniques to convey complex findings clearly and effectively.
