Catalog description

This course provides a foundation in the skills needed to communicate scientific research effectively and to develop a successful honors thesis. Students will learn best practices in organizing research data, designing publication-quality figures, and managing references using modern bibliographic tools. Emphasis is placed on scientific writing, both for manuscripts and theses, and on crafting impactful oral presentations. Additional topics include understanding journal and thesis formatting requirements, setting writing goals and timelines, and preparing for a thesis defense. Through workshops, peer feedback, and iterative practice, students will build the tools necessary for professional research communication. This course is for students engaged in honors research within the animal science major.
