Environmental Economics

Catalog description

The objective of this course is to provide a graduate-level survey of energy and environmental economics to prepare students to conduct original empirical research in the field. The course surveys two prevailing contemporary themes in environmental economics: (1) the design of incentive-based, cost-effective policy instruments to address environmental externalities; and (2) the measurement of the demand for environmental amenities as input into policy design. The course format combines lectures to learn theoretical and methodological concepts with discussion of papers to understand how these concepts are applied in empirical research. (MHA-EL)
