HHS 230
Dual Diagnosis Clinical Experience
Contra Costa College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This class enables students to put their academic learning into practice at an approved behavioral health or substance abuse treatment agency. Students wishing to pursue a placement must contact the professor at least 60 days in advance of the start of the semester. This allows for choice of agency and background checks. Placements must be determined, and background checks completed before the first class. Interested students should contact the Professor to request an application. The application is required for successful enrollment. The class will be in person and meet weekly for seminars and instruction. Students must be Health & Human Services or Psychology majors; or have graduated from the Spirit program. Students already employed by a human service agency may use their employment as their internship with the agreement of their supervisor. Lab hours are scheduled independently with the agency supervisor, and hours will be equal to 225 by the end of the semester. Individual sessions (virtual) with the professor are scheduled at mutually agreeable times.
