Explores the biology, safety, and applications of probiotics and prebiotics in promoting human and animal health. Emphasis on the microbiome’s role in health and disease and the molecular mechanisms underlying probiotic and prebiotic benefits. Students evaluate media articles using scientific literature and complete diverse assessments that support varied learning styles and NACE competencies in critical thinking, communication, and professionalism.
