An exploration of the nursing discipline’s distinct knowledge and shared theoretical perspectives which inform practice, education, leadership, and research. Emphasis is placed on the art and science of nursing praxis including the patterns of knowing: empirical, ethical, personal, aesthetic, and emancipatory. Theories and models derived from nursing, other scientific disciplines, and the humanities are analyzed for their usefulness in advanced nursing practice.
