Catalog description
This course will provide a critical examination of the meanings, methods, and logical structure of science. Participants will examine the historical development of the philosophy of science as it relates to the evolution of the discipline of nursing and the development of nursing knowledge, including theory development. The multiple paradigms of nursing and their implications for nursing research will be discussed. The interrelationships among philosophy, ethics, theory development, research, and practice will be analyzed as they relate to the propositions of modern science and the discipline of nursing.
