An examination of the figure of the nonhuman-human and representations of artificial beings in the German imaginary with a focus on issues of technology, art, philosophy of subjectivity, and culture. Discussion of imaginary and real robots, cyborgs, homunculi, and automata as representations of humanity’s understanding of futurity and innovation. Taught in English.
