Catalog description

Explores the biology, mechanisms, efficacy, and safety of probiotics and prebiotics, emphasizing the microbiome’s role in health and disease and the molecular mechanisms underlying their health benefits. Students critically evaluate commercial products and functional foods containing probiotics and prebiotics using scientific literature to develop evidence-based conclusions. Diverse assessments including papers, presentations, brochures and infographics support varied learning styles and foster NACE competencies in critical thinking, communication, and professionalism. A background in microbiology is recommended.
