Catalog description

This course will focus on the clinical management of the “poisoned” patient through a series of selected cases. Students will be exposed to the clinical presentation and treatment of patients experiencing toxicity from medications, chemicals, and biologicals. This course will review and reinforce the student’s knowledge of the fundamentals of pharmacology and toxicology, and medical literature evaluation. The course will re-emphasize critical objectives with regard to mechanism of action, absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, in addition to clinical practice and treatment. Prerequisites: (PHAR 434 or 6330 ).
