Public Health Informatics

Catalog description

Public health informatics is the systematic application of information and computer science and technology to public health practice, research, and learning. This course introduces students to concepts, methods, and issues related to the application of health information technology (HIT) to population health. Students will learn about various public health information systems with respect to their functionalities, planning, design, development, sustainability, interoperability, management, and how to leverage these systems to improve population health. Prerequisites: PH 5500 and 5600 .
