Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to the political construct of “empire” by studying various empires, from the Romans to the Soviets, using a comparative approach. Students will re-examine imperial imperatives of the past will reconsider contemporary opinions about the respective benefits of empire and nation states. Fulfills core cross-cultural requirement.
