Catalog description

The Sterile Processing Program at Columbus State Community College offers a one Semester technical knowledge-based Certificate of completion. The SPT Certificate focuses on providing students with the specific expertise in the field of Sterile Processing. Students will learn the latest standards, best practices, and technological advancements in the Sterile Processing Profession. There are seven areas of focus: Decontamination, Preparation & Packaging, Documentation, Sterilization Process, Customer Relations, Sterile Storage, and Patient Care Equipment. Sterile Processing Technicians earning this certificate will be considered for employment at Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Dental and Physicians’ Offices. After completing the Sterile Processing Certificate at Columbus State, we encourage students to consider completing their curriculum by earning an Associate of Health Science degree, Associate of Multi-Skilled Health degree, or Associate of Healthcare Management degree. All or most credits earned at CSCC in the Sterile Processing Certificate will count towards an associate degree. The associate degree will allow students to earn leadership positions in careers such as: Lead Sterile Processing Techs, Sterile Processing Department Educator and Sterile Processing Department Managers.
