Catalog description

This course provides the advanced student with an opportunity to explore sophisticated and emergent concepts in addiction-focused treatment. The course builds upon foundational knowledge from the Introduction to Addiction Studies course and expands its application to related topics such as harm reduction, gambling, internet gaming disorder, food addiction, and sexual impulsivity. Students review and interpret scholarly literature on emerging trends in addiction studies and apply those insights to course assignments. The course content also includes key strategies for effective leadership and public advocacy in behavioral healthcare. The course must be completed with a “C” or better.
