Catalog description

This course is a philosophical exploration of the arts and theories about art. Through the analysis of a variety of stylistic eras and artforms, students will critically examine significant philosophical arguments about the arts from the classical era to the present. Topics will include definitions of art, the meaning of art, aesthetic value, and the relationship between ethics and art. Students will visit a museum and attend a live performance.
