Algebraic Reasoning

Catalog description

MATH 1076 includes the algebraic manipulative skills and algebraic reasoning skills expected in MATH 1120 and MATH 1125. The course presents the foundational structure of algebra through exploration and communication. This includes algebraic structure from the viewpoints of algebra, geometry, and functions. The course revisits these subjects each time it enriches the underlying number system beginning with whole numbers, then integers, then rational numbers, and finally real numbers. The goal is a connected system of algebraic structure and the representational tools necessary for communication, collaboration, and rigor.
