Catalog description

This studio course is a guided exploration of color that examines the theory and artistic application of basic, intermediate, and advanced color principles through student projects, creative experimentation, lecture, and demonstration. Topics of inquiry and application include: color terminology, color schemes, effective observational image making, the principles of color organization, additive and subtractive mixing systems, and a thorough analysis of artists' pigments. In addition, students will learn and demonstrate how to critique and judge effective color communication.
