Spanish Theater

Catalog description

In Spanish Theater we engage with "comedias" from the sixteenth and seventeenth-centuries of the Early Modern period and also approach titles from the Romantic and Modern eras. Students will spend time with important pieces by playwrights such as Lope de Vega or Federico García Lorca, while viewing the texts as scripts in order to focus on the performance of the works. Students will create a dramatic performance working with literary texts in order to achieve a greater understanding of the target language but also of the socio-historical context of the material.
