Catalog description

This course engages students in exploring how academic and professional communities define, communicate, and uphold their standards. Through readings, discussions, and participation in campus and community events, students practice critical thinking as they examine how professionals in their fields engage, present ideas, and contribute to shared knowledge. Reflective and applied activities guide students in connecting disciplinary practices to their own developing academic focus, future coursework, and emerging professional identity. By engaging perspectives from the arts, public life, and community initiatives, students strengthen problem-solving skills as they consider how disciplinary knowledge is shaped within broader social and cultural contexts and how these contexts influence the ways professionals present themselves.
