1 section
Catalog description
Over the past two decades, the creation and sale of video games has become a multi-billion dollar industry surpassing film, television, and even American sports combined. In this course, students will consider how the past is presented – and engaged with – in historical video games. The course will consider what makes a “historical game” while also reflecting on games created in previous years and thoughts on the history of their development. Students will apply this matters to the future of video game development and the role that game creators play in presenting the past to the public.
