NAVAL SHIP SYSTEMS

Catalog description

Students are strongly advised to consult with the ME Department prior to registering for this course. A study of ship characteristics and types including ship design, hydrodynamic forces, stability, compartmentation, propulsion, electrical and auxiliary systems, interior communications, ship control, and damage control; theory and design of steam, gas turbine, and nuclear propulsion; shipboard safety and firefighting. This course is part of the Naval ROTC program at Columbia but will be taught at SUNY Maritime. Enrollment may be limited; priority is given to students participating in Naval ROTC.
