Catalog description
Introduces the principles of distributed and centralized power generation. Introduces motor/ generator principles for asynchronous, synchronous, DFIG, and PM synchronous generators. Discusses photovoltaic module and utility interactive inverter specifications, array sizing, and orientation. Prepares individuals to perform solar resource assessment and solar site analysis using publicly available resources, instrumentation, and software simulation. Introduces power electronics circuits to perform rectification/inversion functions. Includes a 3-hour per week laboratory session. Audit available. Applications are investigated from science, business, and social science perspectives. Graphing calculator with advanced statistical programs required and/ or computer software. Prerequisite: MTH 243 or STAT 243Z. Audit available..
