General Chemistry for Non-Science Majors

Catalog description

Explores general chemistry, focusing on the following topics: Matter, Measurement, Problem Solving, Atoms, Elements, Molecules, Compounds, Chemical Equations, Chemical Quantities, Aqueous Reactions, Gases, Thermochemistry, and the Quantum-Mechanical Model of the Atom. This is the first course in a sequence that is designed for students who have had no previous training in chemistry. Entering students are expected to have a working knowledge of high school algebra, logarithms, and scientific notation. Prerequisite/ Concurrent: MTH 95 or equivalent placement, WR 121 or WR 121Z.
