Catalog description

This course provides a broad overview of types of comic scenes for the stage through the practical application of structure, characterization and comic principles. aStudents will study and write different types of comic scenes, analyze those scenes in terms of form and content, rewrite scenes, and pitch ideas for scenes. In addition, this course provides an introduction to pitching, developing story and writing treatments for television and film. This course is part of a set of connected courses that comprise the Comedy Studies semester that takes place at The Second City and material created in this course may be used in the showcase performances held in a Second City theatre that take place at the end of the semester.
